STATEMENT OF OUR QUALITY POLICY

“Therefore it is necessary to develop the human faculties in such a way that there results a growth of the faculty of admiration, of intuition, of contemplation, of making personal judgment, of developing a religious, moral and social sense.”

Students

Our institution is committed to student-centred learning, teaching and transparent assessment. Inspired by Christian values, our aim is to pass on high quality academic knowledge, competitive skills in line with national and international higher education standards and labour market requirements. The size of our student population creates an exceptional situation in which we are able to mentor and accompany our students as they develop their into their adult self and acquire an adult consciousness and a researcher consciousness. In other words, we strive to prepare our students for life, nurturing their abilities to engage with the world, to self-reflect, to be of assistance to others, to be open to dialogue, to be self-reliant, to manage stress and to begin anew when necessary. With the gospel message at the heart of our training, we strive to form Christian intellectuals who will contribute to the creation of a more just society. Our goal is to encourage active citizenship, which includes social responsibility, environmental awareness, and a balance between quality knowledge and faith. 

Teachers and staff

We constantly strive to deliver high quality teaching and research in sync with both national and international needs and trends. This can only be achieved in an inspiring, innovative and supportive working environment, where our lecturers and staff collaborate as integral members of one team. This requires that both teachers and staff members be provided with the necessary background for professional development and for enhancing their competencies and knowledge. To this end, we not only encourage excellence, community- and team building outside the work programme, but also recognise and reward it.

Cooperation

It is now clear that multi-level partnership and cooperation are essential characteristics of a European higher education institution. Our most important partner is the Diocese of Pécs, which is both the maintainer of our institution and the future employer of choice for our students. Another key partner is the University of Pécs, the oldest university in Hungary, with which we cooperate in the field of pastoral care, as well as in the field of training (in the case of double specializations), most especially in the field of teacher training. Our ever-expanding international network includes the Catholic University of Leuven, the University of Opole, the University of Ljubljana, the University of Olomouc, Palacký University, and Babeş-Bolyai University. We promote international mobility and encourage our students to participate in study trips, summer schools and internships abroad. To this end, we are actively involved in international mobility programmes (ERASMUS+, CEEPUS) and committed to mobility support networks (ESCT, BCE). We are open to developing national and international links with other higher education, ecclesiastical and social institutions, which in the long term will contribute to the quality of professional work at the College and to the individual and collective development of our staff and students.

Research excellence

Two aspects guide the direction of research work at the Theological College of Pécs: national and international trends, and the application of research findings to education. We strive to link our research to both domestic and international research areas and to serve the diverse needs of our students. To achieve the aforementioned goals, we have established and continue to invest time and effort into interdisciplinary research groups in pedagogy and church history. International research cooperation is enhanced by our participation in doctoral schools and joint research projects.

Technology

We are committed to using the latest digital technology in the education and research process. At the same time, we strive to create harmony between technology and human existence. We also aim to integrate the benefits of digitalization and the conscious and responsible use of technology into the education system, while working on implementing modern e-learning and a fully online education alongside traditional contact-based teaching.

Marketing (social presence)

The most important and effective way of marketing our college, which also best matches the character of our institution, is through personal encounters. Our aim is for the values that we create, preserve and demonstrate to be evident to our diocese, the Church, and society as a whole. We strive to build a good reputation and to gain recognition both in our national and international environment. To this end, we are constantly developing effective and sustainable channels of communication with our partners and our immediate environment with the aim of being recognized as a force for good in society at large. An essential part of our marketing is a constant presence on the available social media platforms, reaching out to different age groups and social groups in the hope of collaboration.

Sustainability and creation

Our institution works in the spirit of environmental and economic sustainability. In this spirit, we strive to enhance the environmental sustainability of our college and dormitory buildings. Our aim is to manage our resources in a conscious and responsible way for the future, paying particular attention to our human – especially spiritual and community –  resources.

Quality management / quality culture

In our work, we seek to develop and maintain a culture of quality. We strive to ensure that not only our students and teachers, but also our staff and partners, are satisfied with the quality we offer them. We maintain an awareness of the challenges and opportunities that shape our work, with a particular focus on the changes in our social, economic and legal environment.
