The site is both a window and a compass, providing a glimpse into the everyday life of our institution and serving as an invaluable guide to anyone wishing to get involved in the life of our community.
Our college was founded in 1742 by Bishop Zsigmond Berényi.
We continue the tradition of nearly three centuries, adapting to the needs of the twenty-first century in the training of theologians, religious educators, and individuals serving in the helping professions. The Diocese of Pécs, and the city of Pécs in particular, is the perfect home for our institution, enabling us to carry out our work in a vibrant religious and cultural environment.
It is enough to walk through the main square of Pécs in front of the Jami, visit the early Christian tombs or enter the Cathedral for some quiet time at prayer to get a sense of the unique atmosphere of the city.
MISSION STATEMENT
The aim of the leadership of the Theological College of Pécs (Pécsi Püspöki Hittudományi Főiskola, hereafter: PPHF) is to serve as a leading intellectual centre in the region, characterised by Christian values, high academic standards, a tradition of social responsibility and the activities embodying these values.
The College provides a fundamentally faith-based education in Catholic theology, Christian philosophy and the social sciences.
According to the mission statement of the College states that it is a religious institution. In representing the teachings of the Catholic Church, the citizens of the PPHF are called to approach other denominations, religions, worldviews and their representatives with goodwill and recognise values in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
